Getting started with AI enablement in your organisation

A practical starting point for organisations building confidence with AI adoption.

Enablement is about more than a single training session. It is the work of helping people understand where AI fits, build confidence through use, and make considered choices about how it becomes part of their work.

The enablement gap

Many teams have experimented with AI tools but lack a coherent path to sustained adoption. A useful starting point is to connect capability building with the real work people are already doing, rather than treating AI as a separate initiative.

Three areas to consider

  1. Skills — Give people enough context to use AI thoughtfully and recognise its limits.
  2. Process — Look for workflows where better information or less repetitive effort would make a meaningful difference.
  3. Governance — Set clear expectations about privacy, review, ownership, and responsible use.

The right balance will differ by organisation. The important thing is to make adoption understandable, useful, and connected to the people responsible for carrying it forward.
